Why It Matters

Most ERPNext complaints have a cause somebody can name

Vague dissatisfaction with a system usually resolves into five or six concrete findings once someone goes looking.

Evidence, Not Opinion

A finding you can check for yourself

Every item in the report names the document, the setting or the query behind it, so nothing rests on our judgement alone. That matters most when the finding is uncomfortable, such as a customization written directly into core files that will be lost at the next upgrade.

  • Each finding evidenced and reproducible.
  • Severity rated, so effort goes where it counts.
  • Written to be useful to whoever does the fixing.

Before You Spend Again

Know whether to fix, upgrade or rebuild

Teams frustrated with ERPNext often plan a rebuild when a handful of configuration and data fixes would solve the actual complaints for a fraction of the cost. Sometimes the opposite is true. The audit tells you which situation you are in before the budget is committed.

  • Quick wins separated from real project work.
  • Effort estimated per item, so you can plan it.
  • A clear view on whether an upgrade is safe today.

What We Check

The six areas we score

Each one is examined against how your business actually works, not against a generic checklist.

⚙
Configuration fit
Whether modules, naming series, approval limits and workflows match how your teams really operate.
📊
Data quality
Duplicate parties and items, stale masters, negative or stuck stock, and ledgers that no longer tie.
🔄
Upgrade safety
How customizations were built, whether core files were edited, and what an upgrade would break.
⚡
Performance
Slow reports and list views, background job backlogs, database indexes and server sizing.
🔒
Security and access
Role permissions, users with more access than they need, dormant accounts and exposed endpoints.
💾
Backup and recovery
Whether backups run, whether they are stored off the same server, and whether a restore has ever been tested.

FAQ

ERPNext health check questions

What does an ERPNext health check look at?
Six areas: configuration against how you actually work, data quality, how customizations were built and whether they are upgrade-safe, performance and server sizing, security and access control, and backup and recovery. Each is scored and evidenced.
How long does it take and what does it disrupt?
One to two weeks, and it disrupts almost nothing. Most of the work is read-only analysis on a copy of your instance, plus short interviews with a few users from each department.
Do you have to change anything on our system?
No. The health check is an audit, not a repair job. We work on a copy wherever possible and only need read access to production. Any fixes are quoted separately and carried out after you decide what is worth doing.
Will you tell us if our previous partner did a poor job?
We report what the evidence shows, including which customizations were built in a way that will not survive an upgrade. The report is about what needs fixing and in what order, and we write it so it is usable whoever ends up doing the work.
What do we actually receive at the end?
A scored report across the six areas, a findings list with severity and evidence for each item, a prioritized fix plan separating quick wins from larger pieces of work, and an estimate of effort for each. It is a document you can act on with any partner.
Do we have to hire you for the fixes?
No. The report stands on its own and is written to be handed to your internal team or another partner. Many customers use it to prioritise work they then do themselves.

ERPNext Health Check Features

What Is Inside an ERPNext Health Check

A read-only audit of the instance you already run. Here is what we examine, how each finding is evidenced, and what the report puts in your hands at the end.

Core Features

From the configuration down to the server and the backups

Configuration and Data

Does the setup still match how you work today

Businesses change faster than their ERP settings. We compare modules, naming series, approval limits, workflows and permissions against how each department now operates, then run data checks for duplicate parties and items, stale masters, negative or stuck stock, and ledgers that no longer tie back.

  • Configuration reviewed against current practice.
  • Duplicate, stale and inconsistent master data identified.
  • Stock and ledger integrity checks with the queries attached.
Reviewing ERP configuration and data quality findings
Custom Code and Performance

The two things that decide whether you can move forward

We read the custom app and look for edits to core files, undocumented scripts and integrations built without retry or logging, which is what makes an upgrade frightening. Alongside that we profile slow reports and list views, the background job backlog, missing indexes and whether the server is sized for the load.

  • Custom code reviewed for upgrade safety.
  • Slow queries, job backlogs and indexes profiled.
  • Server sizing checked against actual usage.
Reviewing custom application code and system performance
Security, Recovery and the Report

The gaps that only show themselves on a bad day

We check role permissions, accounts with more access than the job needs, dormant logins and exposed endpoints, then look at whether backups actually run, whether they are stored away from the same server, and whether anyone has ever tested a restore. It all lands in one scored report with a prioritized fix plan.

  • Permission and access review by role.
  • Backup schedule, storage location and restore evidence.
  • A fix plan ordered by impact against effort.
