Odoo Migration

Move to Odoo With Numbers That Tie Back on Day One

The risk in a migration is not the loading, it is the reconciliation and the cutover weekend. We profile and clean your source data, prove every total against your old system, and run the switch to a timed plan with a route back.

50+ ERP and software projects. Zero failed projects since 2021.

Why It Matters

A new ERP loses trust the first time a report does not match

Once finance stops believing the stock figure, people quietly return to their spreadsheets and the rollout is over.

Clean Before You Load

Do not carry the old mess into Odoo

Most source data holds the same partner three times, product codes that meant different things in different years, and accounts nobody has posted to since 2019. We profile all of it and hand you a report, so you decide what merges, what is renamed and what is left behind.

  • A duplicate and blank-field report before any load.
  • Merge and naming rules agreed by your team.
  • Cleaning applied in staging, never in production.

Version Upgrades Too

Moving up an Odoo release is its own project

Odoo ships yearly, and an upgrade moves the database itself rather than loading fresh records. The risk sits in your custom modules and integrations, so we rehearse the whole thing on a staging copy, test every customization against the new release, and give you a written report before production is touched.

  • Database upgrade rehearsed on staging first.
  • Custom modules and integrations tested against the release.
  • A report and an agreed window before you commit.

Where You Are Coming From

The source systems we migrate out of

We work from whatever you have, whether that is a licensed ERP, an in-house tool, an older Odoo or years of spreadsheets.

๐Ÿ“Š
Spreadsheets
Years of workbooks with inconsistent columns, merged cells and formulas that have to be unpicked first.
๐Ÿ’ผ
Accounting packages
Ledgers, partners and stock pulled through exports or a direct read, then mapped to your new chart of accounts.
๐Ÿข
Licensed ERP systems
Structured extracts from an existing ERP, including bills of material, routings and open documents.
๐Ÿ”ง
In-house applications
Custom databases read directly, with the business rules behind the data documented as we go.
๐Ÿ”„
Older Odoo versions
Database upgrades across releases, including moving from Community to Enterprise or consolidating databases.
๐Ÿ“
Several systems at once
Finance in one place and stock in another, reconciled against each other before they are merged.
How It Works

From source extract to a cutover you can plan around

1
Profile
We extract the source data and report on duplicates, gaps and inconsistent codes.
2
Map and clean
You agree the merge and naming rules, and we apply them in a staging area.
3
Trial load
Batches load into a test database and are reconciled against the source.
4
Parallel run
You post in both systems for a full cycle and compare the closing reports.
5
Cutover
A final extract, a timed freeze window, the production load and sign-off.
What Is Included

What a migration covers

๐Ÿ”

Source data profile

A written report on duplicates, blanks, inconsistent codes and anything that will not map cleanly.

๐Ÿ“‹

Field mapping sheet

Every source field matched to its Odoo destination, with the transformation rules recorded.

๐Ÿงน

Cleaning in staging

Merges, renaming and standardisation applied to a working copy, never to your live records.

โš–

Batch reconciliation

Counts, control totals, trial balance and stock valuation matched before each sign-off.

๐Ÿ”

Parallel run support

Help comparing both systems through a full cycle, so you switch on evidence rather than a date.

๐Ÿ“…

Cutover runbook

A timed plan with the freeze window, load order, checks, owners and the rollback route.

Why Us

Why teams choose TCB Infotech for Odoo migration

1
Reconciliation is the deliverable
We treat matching totals as the job, not as a check at the end of the job.
2
We advise on what to leave
Carrying ten years of history is expensive and rarely useful. We say so before you pay for it.
3
Staging, never production
Cleaning happens on a copy, so your live records are untouched until you approve the result.
4
Repeatable loaders
Scripts, not manual imports, so the cutover load is a rerun of something already proven.
5
Version upgrades too
We move databases across Odoo releases and test your modules before you commit.
6
Proven delivery
50+ ERP and software projects across industries, with zero failed projects since 2021.
FAQ

Odoo migration questions

What can we migrate into Odoo?
Partners, products and variants, price lists, bills of material and the chart of accounts, plus opening balances, open sales and purchase orders, unpaid invoices, stock on hand by location and, where you need it, closed history for reporting.
Do you also handle Odoo version upgrades?
Yes, and it is a different job from a first migration. A version upgrade means moving the database itself, then testing your custom modules and integrations against the new release. We rehearse the whole thing on a staging copy and give you a report before touching production.
Do we have to bring across all our old history?
Usually not, and it is often the wrong choice. Most businesses load masters plus open items and opening balances, and keep the old system available read-only for older records. We help you decide what is worth carrying, because every extra year adds testing time and cost.
What happens to duplicate and messy records?
We profile the source data first and hand you a report of duplicates, blanks and inconsistent codes. You confirm the merge and naming rules, we apply them in a staging area, and only the cleaned set is loaded. Migrating the mess just moves the problem.
How do you prove the migration is correct?
Every batch is reconciled against the source before sign-off: record counts, control totals, the trial balance, stock quantity and value by location, and open receivables and payables by partner. Your finance team signs each batch off as it goes in.
Can we run both systems side by side for a while?
Yes, and we recommend it for at least one full cycle. You post in both, compare the closing reports, and only retire the old system once the numbers agree. It costs some duplicate effort and removes most of the cutover risk.

Odoo Migration Features

What Is Inside an Odoo Migration

Loading records is the small part. Here is how we find out what your data really looks like, clean it safely, prove each batch against your old system, and sequence the cutover.

Core Features

From a source extract to a cutover with a rollback route

Profiling and Mapping

We show you the state of your data before we touch it

The first deliverable is a profile of what you actually have: duplicate partners, blank mandatory fields, product codes used inconsistently across years, and accounts with no activity. Alongside it comes a mapping sheet naming every source field, its Odoo destination and the rule that transforms it.

  • Duplicate, blank and inconsistency report.
  • Field-by-field mapping with transformation rules.
  • An honest list of what will not map cleanly.

Staged Loading and Reconciliation

Every batch is proved before the next one starts

Cleaning and merging happen in a staging area, so your live records stay untouched until you approve the outcome. Batches then load into a test database through repeatable scripts, and each is reconciled on counts, control totals, trial balance and stock value before your team signs it off.

  • Cleaning applied to a working copy, never production.
  • Scripted loaders that rerun identically at cutover.
  • Batch-level sign-off by your own finance team.

Upgrade Rehearsal and Cutover

You switch on evidence, not on a date in the plan

For a version upgrade we move a staging copy of the database first and test every custom module and integration against the new release. For a first migration you post in both systems for a full cycle. Either way the switch itself is a timed runbook with owners, checks and a route back.

  • Upgrade rehearsed on a staging database.
  • A full cycle compared side by side.
  • A rollback route agreed before the freeze begins.
